MANUKURA offers all students a broad education that makes links within and across learning areas, provides for coherent transitions, and opens up pathways to further learning. Students are encouraged to look to the future by exploring such significant future-focused issues as sustainability, citizenship, enterprise, and globalisation.
High educational achievement is a parallel objective of MANUKURA. The aim is to assist students to reach their full potential academically and to similarly have a sound understanding of Tikanga Māori as well as proficiency in basic Te Reo Māori. High educational standards will be promoted through
The structure of observed learning outcomes (SOLO) taxonomy is a pedagogical approach that describes levels of increasing complexity in students' understanding of various learning areas of the New Zealand Curriculum. Every course offered in our academic programme has developed learning outcomes that are structured and visible for each learning concept. Solo-Taxonomy is used in courses as a self-assessment tool to provide a clear indication of where they are at and what their next steps are.
At MANUKURA we have developed our own SOLO-Taxonomy visual that incorporates a Te Ao Māori world view. Students are encouraged to develop the capacity to move beyond surface and deep understanding to conceptual and extended abstract thinking. This applies to personal growth within all aspects of our kaupapa.
Celebrating high achievers is normalised within our kaupapa. We have a number of students that demonstrate academic excellence across a range of subjects. We like take the time to acknowledge and celebrate their commitment and dedication to their academics.
