COVID-19 Information

As Aotearoa is now at COVID-19 Alert Level 2, here is some important information to help you. If you are interested in enrolling at MANUKURA please email admin@manukura.school.nz so we can help you with your enrolment options.

We are now open – online learning is still available

MANUKURA is still open to support students with their learning and
for people to enquire and enrol for later this year. We are under Government directive for this lockdown and the only exemptions are strict requirements for specified essential or critical (national) services. Our school campus will remain closed until we advise you that you can return, following direction from the Government and Ministry of Health. For more information please don't hesitate to contact admin@manukura.school.nz

Returning to school

We are wanting to reassure you that we are prepared to welcome back your children. We have organised a chemical clean for the school and will continue with the increased hygienic practices that were put in place last term. Whilst we cannot predict the future, we are pleased to say there have been no Covid-19 cases in Palmerston North. We also want to ensure our students are entirely engaged in every aspect of MANUKURA so will be working hard to provide sporting and cultural opportunities for our students.

Please note that under Alert Level 2 guidelines the Ministry has instructed us to reopen the school and therefore this is now our focus. If there are students that for whatever reason can not return at this stage, can you please contact either myself on irene@manukura.school.nz or Whaea Ilane on ilane@manukura.school.nz. We will attempt to continue with Zoom delivery for the students who have engaged well with this mode of learning. However, some have not engaged well, therefore if they remain at home their engagement and learning will be the responsibility of whānau. Our staff have full time teaching loads and may not have the availability to deliver individual lessons outside of these times. The option of enrolling through the Correspondence School may be better suited for some whānau.

Year 13

This is a very important year for our students who are now only 20 weeks from exiting MANUKURA. We will be revising their IDPs on our return to ensure they not only have the necessary qualifications, but are also confident in entering tertiary institutions or the workforce.

Exams

Exams have been pushed back 10 days. They will now run from the 16th of November to the 9th of December. This means senior students will now have five weeks of the school term in Term 4, not three weeks.

Level 1 and 2 Visual Arts portfolios

Seniors will also now have an extra two weeks to complete their Art portfolios.
